This is the story behind Noptim and the experiences that shaped the principles guiding every client relationship today.
My career didn’t begin in advertising. It began by building websites, solving technical challenges, and learning how customers move from search to conversion.
In 1998, I launched my first website for a business in the recognition awards industry, just as eCommerce was beginning to change how companies reached customers. That experience taught me something I still believe today.
A website isn’t marketing. It’s the foundation marketing depends on.
As my work expanded into website development, SEO, analytics, and performance marketing, I kept seeing the same pattern. Businesses didn’t need more tactics. They needed more clarity. Priorities were scattered, data was incomplete, and marketing decisions were often disconnected from real business goals.
The more businesses I worked with, the more I realized the problem usually wasn’t effort. It was direction. Companies were investing in websites, SEO, advertising, and content before first understanding what was actually holding them back.
That experience changed the way I work. Before making recommendations, I start by understanding the business, identifying the biggest obstacles, and building a roadmap around what will create the greatest impact.
Before recommending solutions, I look at five things:
From there, you get a prioritized roadmap. You’ll know what to fix first, what to build next, and how success will be measured.
Advertising can be extremely effective, but only when the foundation is ready for it. Strong landing pages, accurate tracking, and a clear conversion path matter more than simply increasing ad spend.
That’s why I rarely recommend advertising in isolation. It should support a strategy, not become the strategy.
Before making recommendations, I review the website, visibility, tracking, current marketing efforts, and business goals to understand where the biggest opportunities exist.
Turn those findings into clear priorities, realistic next steps, and measurable objectives.
Focus improvements where they'll have the greatest long-term impact, whether that's the website, visibility, content, advertising, or measurement.
Track results, adjust when needed, and continue building on what's working.
Enterprise eCommerce growth supported through long-term SEO, paid media, and ongoing technical refinement.
National visibility strengthened through technical SEO, content strategy, and paid media aligned to real conversion goals.
